Kurtis Gabriel was kind enough to agree to an interview with Hockey Embassy to discuss racism in hockey.
Kurtis has played 38 games in the NHL for the Minnesota Wild and New Jersey Devils organisations and is currently a member of the Philadelphia Flyers organisation. Having recently been interviewed on a panel on TSN, as well as Sportsnet, Kurtis is well known in hockey for his support of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and people of colour in hockey. Additionally, Kurtis is a two-time AHL Man of the Year winner for his social justice and community engagement.
I hope you enjoy our conversation, there was a point about half-way through when my computer decided to freeze but Kurtis handled it like a pro, and his contingency plan of recording our conversation from his end saved my bacon.
If you like random tweets, usually hockey-centric, feel free to follow me on Twitter, and Hockey Embassy on Twitter and/or Facebook. Thanks for reading, stay safe, and I know it’s cliche, but as Gandhi once said, continue to “be the change you wish to see in the world.”
